Please read Chapter 6 – Disorganized Attachment as Dissociation for September 1st

Please read Chapter 7 – The Conundrum of Self-Criticism and Self Attack for September 15th

Elizabeth Howell writes about the impact of our clients’ trauma and dissociation on the therapeutic relationship– what we experience in the room as we interact and attune to our clients while attending to our own histories and reactions.  Focusing on Chapters 4, 6 and 7, we will discuss and apply key ideas about the enactments that can occur in the therapeutic dyad given its inherent structure, the effect of our clients’ disorganized attachment in their relationships, including the therapeutic relationship and the role of shame and self blame in preserving relationships that are experienced as threatening, even when none is intended.

We will meet three times for an hour and a half via Zoom, using large group and break out group discussions,  Reading the material prior to each meeting is required for the content to be meaningful and readily applied to clinical situations.
** Registering for this event will automatically register you for the entire series. You are welcome to attend all sessions or just one.
Fee: Free! Please RSVP.
Judith Ierulli (she/her), MSW, LCSW is passionate about working with survivors of trauma, especially those who have been silenced and marginalized.  She knows that experiences of trauma leave survivors dwelling in the darkest of the dark places.  Symptoms such as dissociation, self harming behaviors, sexual issues, anxiety and depression can hinder participation in life and entrap a survivor in a habitual sense of danger that may no longer be true.  Yet she also knows healing is possible.
As a relational therapist engaged in private practice, clinical consultation and as a leader of women’s personal growth workshops offered by Woman Within International, Monica Robinson (she/her), LCSW, is known for her all-embracing compassion that values all aspects of oneself.
