NEW Book Discussion: Trauma and Dissociation Informed Psychology: Relational Healing and the Therapeutic Connection by Elizabeth Howell
Thursday, September 1, 2022, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
An event every 2 weeks that begins at 7:00 pm on Thursday, repeating until Thursday, September 15, 2022
Elizabeth Howell writes about the impact of our clients’ trauma and dissociation on the therapeutic relationship– what we experience in the room as we interact and attune to our clients while attending to our own histories and reactions. Focusing on Chapters 4, 6 and 7, we will discuss and apply key ideas about the enactments that can occur in the therapeutic dyad given its inherent structure, the effect of our clients’ disorganized attachment in their relationships, including the therapeutic relationship and the role of shame and self blame in preserving relationships that are experienced as threatening, even when none is intended.
