NEW: Trauma, Adversity and Children: Understanding the Impact on Learning and Relationships

Thursday, April 7, 2022, 9:00 am - 12:00 pm

Due to health and safety precautions with Covid-19, this three-hour workshop will be virtual.

Trauma, Adversity and Children: Understanding the Impact on Learning and Relationships is a new workshop that explores how trauma negatively impacts the developmentally sensitive brains and bodies of children, affecting learning, relationships, and lifelong health.  Consistent, predictable, safe, and empathic relationships have the power to heal these traumatic injuries, promoting neuroplasticity and neuronal growth; restoring the body’s natural balance, and a child’s innate desire for connection.

You will receive a zoom link and an outline one day prior to the workshop date.

Participants will:

  • Learn how the physiological and neurological effects of trauma and adversity interfere with learning.
  • Recognize how the survival strategies and adaptations to trauma impact relationships and the ability to connect to others.
  • Explore how the power of safe, nurturing and empathic relationships relieves suffering and stimulates new growth and healing.

Fee: $85/$70, includes 3 CEUs (available to LSWs/LCSWs, LPCs/LCPCs, LMFTs, PhDs and PsyDs).  A limited number of partial scholarships are available.
