Summer Institute on the Relational Treatment of Trauma
Friday, July 12, 2019, 8:00 am - 10:00 am
An event every week that begins at 8:00am on Friday, repeating until Friday, August 16, 2019

The Summer Institute on the Relational Treatment of Trauma is a six-session institute intended for therapists developing their skills in the treatment of trauma. For six Friday mornings, therapists who value the therapeutic relationship as foundational to change will explore the challenges of working with clients who have experienced trauma. We recognize that participants may encounter the many faces of trauma in their work, for example: the abused child, the rape survivor, the vet returning from combat, or adults struggling with the aftermath of a difficult childhood.
In this training we will introduce concepts, incorporating discussion and case examples, that will provide both an initial framework and skills for better work with trauma clients. Presented by experienced trauma clinicians and designed to be accessible and affordable, the institute will address the following topics:
- Conceptualizing Trauma, PTSD and Complex PTSD
- The Relational Model and Its Application in Treating Trauma
- Assessment, Creating Safety and Boundaries
- Pacing, Stabilization and Affect Regulation
- The Grief Process in Trauma Treatment
- Trauma and the Therapist: Ethics of Self-Awareness and Self-Care
12 CEUs available for those attending the entire series
Participants who attend all 6 sessions will gain 3 CEUs for Ethics and 3 CEUs for Cultural Competency
