The Parent Therapist: Holding Two Worlds
Wednesday, February 6, 2019, 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm$65.00
Being a parent can be an inspiring, exhausting, and transformative endeavor. The same might be said of being a therapist. Our commitment to being the best parent and the best therapist we can be often leads to feeling conflicted, divided and under-resourced.
This Helping the Helpers workshop will explore how holding both roles can bring complications as well as unforeseen gifts to our lives and our work. Participants will have the opportunity to consider how we might better discover community and an identity enriched by both of these important roles.
This workshop will address:
- Issues of identity, self-care, and self-disclosure within our work places
- Our beliefs and patterns about getting our needs heard by ourselves and others
- Identifying how the legacy you want to create as a parent impacts who you are as a therapist
- The personal and professional impact of being a working parent and a parenting therapist
3 CEUs are available to LCSWs, LCPCs, LMFTs, PhDs and PsyDs
Held at Womencare Counseling & Training Center, Evanston
