The Parent Therapist: Holding Two Worlds

Wednesday, April 7, 2021, 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$85.00

Due to health and safety precautions with Covid-19, this three-hour workshop will be virtual.

Being a parent can be an inspiring, exhausting, and transformative endeavor.  The same might be said of being a therapist.  Our commitment to being the best parent and the best therapist we can be often leads to feeling conflicted, divided and under-resourced.
Our lives as parents and as therapists are looking different these days. With daycare centers and schools closed, telehealth, and new fears among us, our worlds are overlapping in new and unforeseen ways.
We will discuss the overlap of being a parent and a therapist both now and in recent times that felt more familiar to us.
We will meet by Zoom and use whole group discussion, breakout rooms for partnering, and some camera-off time for individual, reflective writing.

You will receive a zoom link and an outline one day prior to the workshop date.

This workshop will address:

  • Issues of identity, self-care, and self-disclosure within our work places
  • Our beliefs and patterns about getting our needs heard by ourselves and others
  • Identifying how the legacy you want to create as a parent impacts who you are as a therapist
  • The personal and professional impact of being a working parent and a parenting therapist

Fee: $85, includes 3 CEUs (available to LSWs/LCSWs, LPCs/LCPCs, LMFTs, PhDs and PsyDs).  A limited number of partial scholarships are available.
