Trans-Parenting: Boldly Loving, Affirming and Protecting our Gender Diverse Kids
Tuesday, November 5, 2019, 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm$65.00
Most of us were taught to identify and conform to a birth assigned gender. In our day, gender binary norms were affirmed and enforced in homes, schools, communities and places of worship.
How do we unlearn these gender rules and biases as we parent our transgender and gender diverse children? How do we protect our children in a world filled with transphobia and violence against LGBTQ people? How do we, together with our children, navigate the ongoing and treacherous process of coming out – in schools, neighborhoods, extended families and communities? Where do we, as parents, find our own safe spaces to mourn the losses and share the fears and joys of raising our transgender children?
With our collective experience and wisdom, we will address these questions and others which often remain unspoken and hidden in our hearts. This workshop is for personal growth, is open to all, and does not earn professional CEUs.
Fee: $65, includes light refreshments. A limited number of partial scholarships are available.
