Care for the Therapist

“Caring for myself is not self-indulgence, it is self-preservation…”  –  Audre Lorde

Our work has the power to heal, empower, and change the lives of our clients.  If we are mindful and willing, we too become more fully human in the process.

But this work also has the power to disorient and dishearten therapists.  Therapeutic impasses, enactments and empathic breaks are frequent and ordinary to the work, and are difficult to resolve on one’s own.

We caution, do not do this work alone.  Self-awareness and community are essential to the craft of the therapist, and foster our compassion and integrity.

We offer a breadth of learning opportunities that support therapists and their growth.  We are sensitive to the complexities of working in this field and the importance of tending to oneself.  We honor confidentiality at the highest level.
